As mentioned we have more upcoming updates that will detail much of our progress.
Also, please note that the early prototype shown in Update # 73 was a functional demonstration of the dual-display aspects of the Dragonfly.
The mechanical and industrial design prototypes have also been shown in various updates as well.
We are working with Benchmark to build the next set of pre-production proto’s and will post that update as soon as possible.
Cheers,
Bridget
I want to see a prototype that actually works . Here ‘s have been introduced ‘s just CG or mock-up .
1.) While I agree with James that having to wait this long for a product that could be so useful today is discouraging. However, on the other hand I’ve backed a lot of technology campaigns and have found that, 1.) all of them fall far behind their anticipated ship date and 2.) of the ones I’ve received I’ve been disappointed with either the quality or functionality of said product. *continued* >
2.) While I wish I could have the DF now, I want to know it’s going to truly work as expected on a daily basis and not end up as another useless gadget that ends up getting stuffed into a drawer.
Hi James Pederson (1),
We understand your frustration and as mentioned in the update, we have more updates coming soon that will show the progress to date.
The point of the current update is to point out out that we have a very large partner who is providing engineering and ultimately manufacturing services to us, which should build confidence in our opinion.
Benchmark is a multi-billion dollar company and has opened many of the doors that we could not get opened on our own.
>
Hi James Pederson (1),
We feel very fortunate to have such a substantial team working with us and will keep forging ahead.
In the meantime, we greatly appreciate your support and for your praise for the Dragonfly idea!
Cheers,
Bridget
You mention having a rough time with harassment from people who don’t believe it will come to fruition. Well I can’t blame them. There has not been many meaningful updates. And reading the futurefon’s Reddit doesn’t help much either with my confidence. I am a backer and want this amazing idea to come about, but when it has been this long with (what many see as) little progress I worry. I’m not trying to be insulting. I guess I was just hoping for more of an update.
Hi Jonathan,
Great to hear from you!
Glad you like the update and we have more to come soon!
Cheers,
Bridget
Hi Scott Early (1),
Hardware is hard, is a common mantra in the industry and yet we are doing all we can to make it all come together.
If it helps, please remember that it took Apple about 9-years to develop the first iPad and takes them about 2-years between each new iPhone!
>
Hi Scott Early (2),
We are developing a completely new platform that is equal parts, dual-display laptop, tablet and smartphone, etc., while also building a completely new brand and more and we are not even at the two-year mark yet, so please be patient with us.
Cheers,
Bridget
OMG
Delays….
This project is a huge reason I don’t sponsor more electronic projects on Indegogo.
Woot! An Update! =D Can’t wait for the DF’s to start shipping. I’ve already had several scenarios in my daily life where I would stop and think, “If only I already had the DF right now, I could do…” So glad you were able to finally incorporate the anti-shark features.. right now I could use an anti-mosquito one too! Anyway, really hoping to get my hands on the DF before 2017.
Hi John Wood,
You are so welcome and thank you for your support and feedback!
I really love my job and interacting with our team of backers is always very informative and exciting!
Cheers,
Bridget
Cheers for the prompt reply Bridget! I’d imagine there’s other factors involved etc… Hopefully be tasting soon
Hi John Wood & Ilia Korol (1),
Great to hear from you both!
We agree that a spec (including sound) can always be improved and that is the plan for the Dragonfly.
For example, think of your first laptops and smartphones and the ones you have now – the point is that the specs can and will always get better as the technology evolves.
For now, we are trying to make balanced choices for the Beta units, that get us in the game and provide an exciting user experience.
>
Hi John Wood & Ilia Korol (2),
Simultaneously introducing the world to the key elements of the Dragonfly, that no other product can match.
This approach will help us start our company together and from there, the plan is to receive valuable feedback from our BTP members and continue to evolve the spec (as we grow the company) by adding new improvements on a regular basis.
The upcoming updates will build upon this and explain it in greater detail.
Cheers,
Bridget
I was a part of experiment where 600 people different ages and profession test the same music piece with different headphones and DAC. And 596 of them heard the difference !!! That why the best sound engineers are people who are not only good technologist , also musician. Please , do not underestimate how important can be good sound for us all.
I am looking forward to the update. Thank You very much for Your patience.
Hi Bridget,
85 % of smartphone owner use it for music, youtube and so on . I know much people who changed from Samsung and Sony to LG and some new chines smartphone because of better DAC and sound. I work with different kind of music , sound engineering and sound product testing. So i know the difference between 16bit ,24bit and 32bit. The things what You can hear and what You can see on oscillograph in labor – is two total different things!
I’ve just been using a Samsung g5 and now I’m on an lgg4 they have a 16 bit and 24 bit dac respectively…. Running them through a set of bose speakers the lgg4 wins hands down its much richer! Looking forward to the upcoming updates
Hi Ilia Korol,
Thanks for the input. We agree that the Dragonfly can and will continue to improve and we will speak to this more in the upcoming updates.
Cheers,
Bridget
Hi James Pederson,
You are all signed up for the BTP and as mentioned earlier, we have some upcoming updates that will explain the plans for the beta test unit rollout.

Briget
Hi Bridget,
Can you check if my registration for the BTP worked?
Also, is August the shipping date still? I’ve been waiting for a long time…. December 16th 2014 was when I funded your campaign.
Hi Bridget,
The article about 32 bit DAC is interesting. . And LG V 10 sound great , as it written in the article. But as professional musician i can say – you will hear the difference, believe me .Special in the details ,transparency and instrument clarity . It will be great for Dragonfly to be better then competitive also in sound.
Cheers
Hi Michael (1),
Thank you for your patient support while we have been developing the Dragonfly.
You were one of our earliest contributors of the 300 for $200 and for that, you will receive the Dragonfly that will ultimately transform the mobile space.
We know the wait has been long, but please take into consideration that it took Apple about 7- to- 9 years to develop the iPad. It also works on about a 2 year cycle for completely new models of the iPhones and that is Apple!!
>
Hi Michael (2),
Furthermore, via the BTP you will get 99% of that $200 back, so we hope that helps to offset any delays.
Cheers,
Bridget
I paid October 23, 2014
What am a waiting for?
This thing better do my dishes and perform sexual favors at this point.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Hi Frédéri POCHARD,
Please check your inbox for your BTP invitation.
Cheers,
Bridget
Hi Ilia Korol,
Thank you for your question.
Please note that there will be two audio systems, one in the Slingshot and one in the base unit. We settled on 16-bit for the beta units, but will be planning to evolve the audio over time, just like the rest of the components as we grow.
In the meantime, here is an interesting article that talks about how 32-bit audio may actually be a bit of overkill:
We have some upcoming updates that will explain the plans for the beta test unit rollout.
Cheers,
Briget
Hello.
Please resend my invitation to the BTP.
Regards.
Shipping date ? Still august ?
Hi Bridget, Hi Team,
I still have one question about sound quality for people who like to hear music What kind of DAC will be inside? I had possibility to test new LG with 32bit DAC – and it was great sound. I hope Dragonfly will have something on the same quality level. I think it is very important part of every modern device. Can You give some information about?
Thank You very much.
Hi Michael Duffy,
Thanks for your question. As mentioned in earlier comments, the next in the planned series of updates should be ready by the end of the weekend.
Cheers,
Bridget

Resend would be awesome.

Hi Andy Friedman (1),
Thank you for your message.
Please note that we are not wasting resources on videos at this time, as the next few updates are not going to be video productions.
The next series of updates will start coming out towards the end of the week/weekend and they will discuss topics like: key strategic alliances that have developed, challenges we face and continue to face, design updates, BTP overview and rollout/shipping schedules, etc.
>
Hi Andy Friedman (2),
In the meantime, we are very grateful to all of our backers and thank you for your patience while we get the next updates ready.

I meant the video update
@Bridget, I am confused ( other backers may disagree) if we are so close to beta shipments why bother ? My thinking is resources can be used elsewhere. The only reason I can think of is that beta shipments have slipped and will not be sent in August.
Hi Bridget, I too seem to have lost my beta invitation. I entered details a while back, but would like to review them. Would you please extend to me a link/invitation to the BTP. Looking forward to holding and using the Dragonfly Futurefon! Michael
